I took the kitten to the vet today and the vet is pretty sure the leg is fractured and that it isn't a birth defect. SO, he will be dropped off first thing Monday morning to be x-rayed to be sure what they are dealing with and the plan is to re-break the leg and then put it in a splint and hopefully it will heal up okay. The vet did mention amputation and said it was possible that the leg wouldn't grow at the same rate as the others but hopefully it will heal and he will have better use of it than he currently does. I feel for him having to go thru another trauma in his short little life but it is probably best to go ahead and deal with it now while he is young. He will wear the split anywhere from about 3 weeks to 6 or 8 weeks. That should be quite a feat to be sure it stays on him so that he can heal. I am sure he would be okay if we had to amputate the leg but I would rather save it if we can.
The good news is that they tested him for feline leukemia and something similar to aids today and he doesn't have either one.

I saw the daddy of your kitten in the woods near the house today. He is a big red cat. He ran in the woods when he saw me.
