When Godly People do Ungodly Things

I enjoyed this bible study more than I thought I would and decided to post the five points that were made by Beth Moore in our last video session.

1. The sin that is different from ours always seems worse.
2. The Word of God never teaches us to break fellowship with the repentant.
3. We cannot go on in our sin. The Holy Spirit will convict us.
4. How do we go on from here? We go on blessed.
5. A true, healed Had is so scared of herself that she will never live anywhere but before the face of God.

I've had some conversations recently with various people about whether or not we can lose our salvation. My position is that we cannot. Romans 8:38 says "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

I do not believe that God would ever turn His back on us. Yes, we can turn our backs on Him and go off in our sin for awhile but I believe point #3. We cannot go on in our sin. We WILL be convicted by the Holy Spirit and we will turn back. The prodigal son did. The father was waiting and watching for him to return and he was greeted with open arms. The father didn't send him away. He didn't say you've gone too far this time. He greeted the son with open arms.

What would be the point of the cross if He ever intended to turn His back on those whom He has saved??? I'm afraid in our flesh and the sins we commit and continue to commit He would have turned His back on every last one of us by now if that was the case.

We tend to think of God in our own fleshly terms, we are created in His image. His ways are different than our and we have a hard time grasping that fact. How many of us, if we were the father of the prodigal would welcome the son back with open arms? We can't fathom God treating us any different than we would treat others.

If GOD the father would turn his back on his own actual son because the son chose of his own free will to accept the sins of all mankind then how can GOD our adopted father not turn his back on us who in our own free will choose to willfully continue in our sin. Yes he will convict his own but when we as his adopted sons choose to ignore his conviction then he may cease to convict and let us reap the penalty of or sin in the form of a reporbate mind which will remain in sin and we know GOD the father can't accept unrepentant sin. He will spew us out like the luke warm water we have become.
